Ink Currents

A sheet of warm, faintly fibrous paper fills the frame. From a few points, thousands of hair-thin threads of ink are released and carried by slow, curling currents: they swell, taper and fade like brush strokes, gathering into dark pools where the currents meet and thinning to grey veils where the water runs fast, with soft washes feathering around them; one of the currents carries the palette's accent colour. The currents change shape slowly, and the paper drinks old ink back toward its own tone, so the sheet keeps changing without filling up. Moving the pointer or a finger over it stirs the water like a brush tip: the nearby ink bends into a soft swirl that follows the stroke, the water in its path curling back around both sides, circling winds the ink into a spiral, and it all settles over a few seconds after you stop. Pressing while stirring lets a little fresh ink bleed from the tip. With sound on, a quiet score plays and the ink follows it.
